Soundproofing assessment in accordance with DIN 4106 supplementary sheet 2:

- Click 2.0 soundproofing level for fair-faced concrete, dimension stone, or wood: L´n.w<= 46dB, fulfils increased soundproofing requirements
Skid-protection in accordance with DIN 51130: All materials achieve R10. Higher requirements can be fulfilled by applying a different surface treatment method

Tolerance compensation during final assembly is possible without limitation.
The following information must be available prior to shipment:
- Longitudinal axis step-height: Can be established following consultation with the customer or onsite measurement. Individual steps cannot be shortened onsite.
Fixation options for fall protection:
- Front-end M10 threaded bushings for holding glass point mountings
- Welding plates (only for fair-faced concrete steps)
- Cone bracket for holding handrail beams (only for fair-faced concrete)
- All typical wooden connecting elements for our wooden steps
Integrated lighting: Only available following a more detailed consultation with us, as the steps cannot be removed once installed
Step protection during construction phase: Available. Step protection consists of a textile liner and OSB boards which protect the stairs from mechanical damage. Step protection does not protect against liquids.
Stair landing / Pedestals: Available upon request
Is it possible to attach the staircase to rounded walls?: Yes
General Requirements of RoomStone® Fix System 2.0
A level reinforced concrete wall with a minimum strength of 20 cm is required for mounting RoomStone® stairs. The structural engineer must ensure that the wall exhibits a carrying load which is suitable to bear the weight of the staircase and auxiliary structures. It is possible to produce the enforced concrete wall right on the construction site or, alternatively, produce it at our production facility and ship it to the construction site where it is subsequently put in place. In order to be able to ensure a precise alignment of the steps’ frontends, the levelness of the wall must correspond to the increased requirements for prefab-walls as described in DIN 18202. If there are any bumps or other types of unevenness in the wall that may cause differing length requirements for the individual steps, please ensure that you notify RoomStone® prior to production and shipment of the stairs. The steps will then be produced in different lengths in order to precisely fit the parameters of the wall.
We are happy to provide you with expert assistance regarding the correct measuring of the wall. Please do not hesitate to contact our customer service department regarding this matter. Please note, that in the case of floor breakthroughs, ceiling openings, or other lateral obstacles we require opening dimensions of “length of step plus 5 cm” so that we can attach the fixation elements of the steps to the fixation elements of the wall. The tolerance for superstructures on top of floorings in the neighbouring upper/lower storey is limited to a maximum of 0.5 cm. The relevant areas must be marked prior to construction of the stairs. The floor-laying process may be completed prior to assembly of the stairs.
Blind holes are drilled in to the wall prior to assembly of the stairs. Diamond-studded cutters are then used to drill precise holes for the subsequent fixation of the stairs. The drill must be water-cooled whereby the water is siphoned and recycled. Spray and leakage water on the wall and floor is unavoidable. As plastered surfaces will be dirtied by the drill, a protective impregnation must be applied to finished fair-faced concrete walls prior to commencement of the drilling process. If concrete repairs are planned, then these should be executed after the assembly of the staircase. RoomStone® is not liable for any staining or damages that may occur due to spray and leakage water or the process of installing the staircase.
The sketching and drilling work takes approximately one day. The staircase can be installed the following day. An air temperature of more than 8°C is an absolute necessity for the successful performance of the assembly process, as reaction resin adhesives are applied. The same temperature restrictions apply for the core of the concrete wall.
Recommendations for Plastering Walls
Please note the following if you wish to plaster the wall:
The frontend of the stairs must touch the concrete wall. The drill must be attached to a smooth and even wall, as it is fixated with vacuum pumps.
In order to be able to ensure a smooth and even surface of the wall, we recommend that our craftsmen apply the undercoat plaster prior to the drilling procedure. After the plastering process has been completed, RoomStone® can execute the initial drilling and assembly procedures. The position of the stairs is sketched on the wall and the necessary holes are drilled into the wall. Now the plaster in proximity of the individual steps must be removed by our craftsmen (the plaster that needs to be removed equates to an excess of 1 cm of the steps’ cross section). Following this procedure, the steps of the staircase can be installed. Painters should now touch up the damaged areas of the plaster. Please note, that his process is not part of the services that RoomStone® offers. The plaster can range all the way up to the steps without requiring an elastic band or an elastic joint.
If only a finishing coat of plaster is to be applied to the wall and this coat does not permit subsequent transitions, it is advisable that the plaster be applied after the stairs have been installed.
Safety Notices Regarding Fall Protection
RoomStone® does not provide any fall protection measures. We do, however, offer optional fixation elements or anchorage points to suit the type of fall protection you wish to implement.
We would like to expressly point out, that the locally applicable building rules and regulations must be adhered to, and that these regulations generally demand that fall protection measures be put in place by the building contractor. We also make a point of reminding every building contractor and architect of his obligations with regard to fall protection. If no fall protection measures are implemented, all ensuing responsibilities and liabilities lie with the contractor, architect, and builder – and expressly not with RoomStone®.
Our construction staircases are all equipped with handrails. The handrail boards need to be provided and attached by the customer.
